British police say they stopped suspected plot to kill Saudi king

British police say they foiled a suspected plot to kill the king of Saudi Arabia during his state visit to the UK last year. Police officer Mark Holmes says a courier was caught at Heathrow Airport trying to smuggle a large amount of cash into Britain to pay a cell of dissident Saudi Arabians plotting to assassinate King Abdullah during his state visit to the UK in late October and early November. Holmes says police had been tipped off about the courier by an informant, but couldn't find the grounds needed to arrest him. He was speaking Wednesday.
