The UN chief expressed deep concern at Sudan's reported lack of cooperation with the International Criminal Court. Costa Rica's foreign minister warned that Khartoum is "toying" with the United Nations.
Strong words were exchanged Thursday over prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo's semi-annual report to the Security Council.
"The entire Darfur region is a crime scene. Despite promises and denials, over the last five years, millions of civilians have been targeted by officials who vowed to protect them. Impunity reigns," the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court told rapt council members.
He promised to present evidence next month to a pretrial chamber of the court in The Hague, Netherlands.
