French authorities charge six in terror probe

Six men were charged Saturday in connection with an investigation into a suspected al-Qaida-linked recruiting network for the Iraqi insurgency, judicial officials said. The men were charged with "criminal conspiracy with a terrorist organization," officials said. Three of them were also charged with financing terrorism. Two of the men have been placed in detention and a judge was expected to decide whether to detain the others, officials said. Two anti-terror judges will lead the investigation into the case, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of laws requiring that details of judicial investigations be kept secret.
