Germany: Five children slain; mother in psychiatric facility

Five children aged from three to nine years old have been found killed in a house in northern Germany, police said Wednesday. Police said that their mother was a suspect and had been sent to a psychiatric facility. The gruesome discovery was made in the town of Darry in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Few details were immediately available but police described the 31-year-old woman as mentally ill. "As far as currently known, the motive is to be sought in the mother's mental illness," police said in a statement.
