A senior minister from Chancellor Angela Merkel's party said Friday that Germany should drop its push for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
"We should focus our limited energy and strength on more intelligent, future-oriented solutions aimed at a stronger ability to act for Europe," Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said.
Schaeuble, who was addressing a security conference, stressed that this was his personal view.
