Helicopter crash kills six Iranian troops

An Iranian military helicopter slammed into a mountain during a storm killing at least six members of the armed forces, state radio reported on Saturday. The country's official IRNA news agency later said five of the victims were members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards. Five other military men were also reported wounded in the crash, which took place during military maneuvers near the town of Piranshahr in the Kurdish region of Iran along the border with Iraq, 700 kilometers (435 miles) west of the capital Teheran. "The crash occurred when the helicopter slammed into a mountain due to a storm," the radio report said, without giving any further details on the rank of those killed or when the accident took place.
