About 300 people marched from a former US military base to the United Nations' offices in Panama City on Thursday to demand a cease-fire and humanitarian aid for Lebanon.
"We want peace," the protesters chanted, waving the Lebanese flag and displaying photos of areas bombed in Israeli airstrikes and of wounded women and children. They held a moment of silence before handing UN representatives their demands.
"We are here to express our sadness for what is happening in Lebanon," said Fauzi Hachem, Lebanese consul in Panama.
About 10,000 Lebanese live in Panama, including many investors who have businesses tied to the Panama Canal.
