Nine arrested in UK anti-terror raids

Police arrested nine people suspected of terrorist offenses in an operation Wednesday involving five police forces, Greater Manchester Police said. About 500 officers were involved in the operation, and searches were continuing at several locations, police said. Greater Manchester Police said those arrested were "suspected of facilitating terrorism abroad," but gave no details of the suspected offenses. One suspect was arrested in Liverpool in a joint operation by police and immigration officers, Merseyside Police said.
