Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf arrived in Kabul on Wednesday for talks with his Afghan counterpart on combatting terrorism and improving security cooperation between the two nations, both key players in the US-led war on terror.
The visit comes amid accusations by both countries that the other is doing too little to crack down on militants operating either side of their porous, mountainous frontier where al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is believed to be hiding.
"Afghanistan is expecting the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to take effective action against terrorism," an Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.
Pakistan has deployed 80,000 troops along the Afghan border, and says it has turned over 700 al-Qaida suspects to the US.
