Philippine troops pursuing al-Qaida-linked militants on a southern island clashed with suspected guerrillas Monday, killing four and capturing two others, the military said.
The elite army Scout Rangers exchanged fire with about 40 Abu Sayyaf rebels in Talipao town on Jolo island, killing two, said army commander Brig. Gen. Reynaldo Mapagu said.
He said the rebels were led by Albader Parad, who carries a US$15,000 bounty on his head.
There were no casualties amoung government troops.
