Support for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government rose following the passage of two bills, one on a referendum to amend the country's pacifist Constitution and the other on educational reform, two newspaper polls showed Tuesday.
According to a poll by the largest daily Yomiuri, 49.6 percent of respondents said they support Abe's Cabinet, up 5.8 percentage points from a similar poll in March.
It was the first time that support for Abe has risen, after months of dwindling approval since he took office in late September, the paper said.
Disapproval was at 36.8 percent, a fall of 7.1 percentage points, Yomiuri said.
