Putin: Russian presidential term should be longer

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview that the presidential term in Russia, four years long, is too short. In the interview, quoted by Israel Radio early Monday morning, Putin said the presidency in Russia is copied from the American model which does not fit Russia. He said the term should be extended to five or maybe even seven years. However, Putin added, under no circumstances should the law be changed to allow three consecutive terms, and that the law limiting the president to a maximum of two terms, should not, in this respect, be changed.
