Turkey arrests 5 people with links to al-Qaida

Police in Istanbul have detained five people with alleged links to al-Qaida, a news agency reported Sunday. The five were detained in a sweep against suspected al-Qaida militants in the city ahead of a summit of leaders of Black Sea nations, the Dogan news agency reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders are scheduled to attend Monday's summit. Dogan said Chechens were among the detained but did not say how many. Police in Istanbul would not comment on the report.
