Britain has no intention of sending additional soldiers to Iraq, Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said Thursday.
Beckett welcomed US President George W. Bush's announcement that Washington would send 21,500 more troops to Iraq, saying it demonstrates the U.S. and Iraqi governments' determination to deal with the deteriorating security situation.
However, Beckett distanced the British government from USpolicy in Iraq.
"It is not our intention at the present time to send more troops," Beckett told reporters at Downing Street.
