A US citizen was one of four humanitarian workers taken hostage in Iraq, a US Embassy spokeswoman confirmed on Sunday.
The name of the civilian, who was among a group believed to be peace activists kidnapped on Saturday, was not immediately released. But embassy spokeswoman Elizabeth Colton confirmed earlier reports that an American was taken along with two Canadians and a Briton.
