US Vice President in Chile for summit

US Vice President Joe Biden was reaching out to Latin American leaders Friday on the eve of his participation in a summit of leaders from Latin America and Europe. After meeting with Biden, Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez said the vice president expressed "the clear desire of the government" of President Barack Obama to improve relations with Latin America. "They are determined to seek all the possible ways to improve these relations," Vazquez said. Argentine media said Argentine President Cristina Fernandez discussed with Biden the current global economic crisis and urged the Obama administration to support a revamp of international financial institutions.
