German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she is still counting on a diplomatic solution to the long-running dispute over Iran's nuclear ambitions. Merkel said at a news conference Wednesday the chances of such a solution will be improved by "consistently" keeping up pressure on Iran through sanctions if it continues to defy international demands to suspend its uranium enrichment. Merkel says "we are hearing very diverse signals" from Iran on its intentions. She says "we are counting clearly on a diplomatic solution ... I am counting on that and nothing else."
