Iran's foreign minister met on Saturday with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem as part of a visit aimed at strengthening ties between Teheran and the North African nation.
Manouchehr Mottaki said after arriving Friday that both countries sit in "important regions of the world," making it a "necessity" for Algerian and Iranian officials to address issues together.
Mottaki said that various aspects of ties between the two countries would be reviewed during his two-day visit, "looking toward consolidating" relations.
The foreign envoy was to meet with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Details of the talks between Mottaki and Belkhadem were not made public.
