Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman is deceiving the public by trying to portray himself as a centrist, MK Shelly Yacimovich (Labor) said at a cultural event Saturday.
“There’s a limit to the deception, the word games, and the spin,” she said.
“Since when is he left-wing?” Yacimovich recalled that Liberman called for Israelis not to shop at stores owned by Israeli Arabs who are not loyal to the state and asked: “Is there any call more racist than that? “The thought of him as prime minister makes me sick,” Yacimovich added.
At the same time, the Labor MK said that she would not reject sitting in a coalition with Yisrael Beytenu. Last week, Liberman said he would not have a problem sitting in a Labor-led government.
MK Alex Miller (Yisrael Beytenu) responded that after Yacimovich ran for prime minister, Labor voted her out of the party’s leadership.
“She has a lot to learn before she reaches the talents, abilities, and experience of Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman,” he said.
Miller suggested that Yacimovich’s words and feeling of sickness could be a result of excessive use of marijuana, referring to the Labor MK’s admission that she smoked cannabis in the past.
