Itay and Hadar Berdichevsky, a 30-year-old couple from Kfar Aza, sheltered their ten-month-old twins in a safe room as terrorists invaded their home on Saturday, while more than 700 Israelis were killed by Hamas terrorists. Reports indicate that they tried to resist the intruders but tragically lost their lives. Unbeknownst to the attackers, the twins remained undiscovered, lying next to their deceased parents for roughly 12-14 hours. They were later rescued by security forces and handed over to their grandmother for care.

"We’re witnessing horrors,” senior Maariv columnist Ben Casspit commented on X. “Such horrors haven't been described since the liberation of the [Nazi] camps in 1945.” He referenced the heart-wrenching story of the Berdichevsky twins, noting, “They are now left as orphans.”

 At least 700 Israelis killed

As of Monday morning, the IDF has launched 1,149 airstrikes on Gaza, an increase of approximately 800 since Sunday noon. Active combat with Hamas continues in six Israeli villages along the Gaza corridor.

Following Hamas' invasion into southern Israel on Saturday, the death toll has surged, with at least 700 Israelis and an equal number of Hamas militants confirmed dead. The fatalities comprise roughly 300-400 Israelis and 400 Hamas militants in active combat, with another 400 Gazans killed in airstrikes. Furthermore, over 2,000 Israelis have sustained injuries, while in Gaza, the wounded number exceeds 2,300.

Currently, the IDF hasn't categorized the wounded Gazans as fighters or civilians. However, data from 2014 shows an even split between the two, but in more recent conflicts, the proportion of injured fighters has substantially risen.
