Palestinian Islamic Jihad released a video of Israeli hostage Rom Braslavski on its social media on Thursday.

The terrorist group claimed that this was the last footage of Braslavski before contact with his guards was lost two days later.

Following the release of the video, the Braslavski family said they were "deeply shaken. People talk a lot about what is happening in Gaza, about hunger, and I want to ask everyone who spoke about hunger: Did you see our Rom? He is not receiving food, he is not receiving medicine. He has simply been forgotten there. Six minutes of video - that is all it took for Rom to break on camera. But Rom has been there for 664 days."

"They managed to break Rom. Even the strongest person has a breaking point. Rom is an example of all the hostages. They must all be brought home now," the family urged.

"We are demanding an immediate meeting with security officials. We are demanding a meeting with the political and military leadership - from the head of military intelligence to the defense ministry to the prime minister. We don’t understand what they are doing all day in the Knesset committees - talking? Debating? Rom has been there for almost two years, and no one has even called to update us."

The family urged action to be taken, "We ask that Ambassador Witkoff see this video. And we make an urgent plea to President Trump: Bring our son home.”

"I want him home now," his mother said. "They took off his beard, took off everything. Because we said he was strong, they show that he is not strong. I know how many beatings he received. I know that Rom doesn't cry. If he cries, it's because he was abused. Look at how he looks, thin as a stick."

His cousin Amit described him to Jewish News as “humble... He loved life. He loved music. He loves chocolate Oreos. I wish he were home. I don’t want to wait much longer. I don’t know how the families survive this because it’s a very tough situation. My mother and dad are suffering. It’s very, very tough right now. So we need him back. We believe there will be a good end to this story.”

Video released in April

In April, the PIJ released a video of Braslavski, which his family approved for partial publication.

In the video, Braslavski, whose face is blurred, addressed both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump about a deal to release the hostages.

“Please, Mr. prime minister, get me out of here. Trump, where are your promises? Didn’t you say you would release everyone in a deal?”

“All day, I’m just scratching, and it hurts. I don’t know what this disease is.”

Kidnapped on Oct 7

Braslavski was kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023 where he was working security.

He was a medic and resided in Jerusalem. As terrorists invaded the festival, he used his training as a medic to stay behind and help the wounded - even taking the time to hide remains so they would not be taken by terrorists.

During the attack, he was reportedly wounded in both hands.

For two months after his abduction, his family didn't know if he had been taken or if he was among the 1,200 murdered by invading terrorists.

His family has said that they have received very little information about his whereabouts during his time in captivity.

This is a developing story.
