US President Donald Trump and his top aides are reportedly concerned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was attempting to sabotage ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas by striking top Hamas officials in Doha, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing a person close to Trump's national security team and a US official.

According to the report, the Trump administration's frustrations with Netanyahu have deepened since the strike on Tuesday, leading Trump and administration officials to question whether Netanyahu was purposely trying to hinder the talks.

Someone close to Trump's team told Politico, "Every time they're making progress, it seems like he [Netanyahu] bombs someone."

"That's why the president and his aides are so frustrated with Netanyahu."

The US official added that Trump has grown frustrated with Netanyahu, even telling leaders in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates of his frustration during the president's Middle East trip in May.

Additionally, the official told Politico that Trump's "inability to control Netanyahu" is "especially vexing" to US officials, especially when Netanyahu makes moves that impact US relations with Qatar and Syria.

US official says no plans to reprimand Netanyahu over Doha strike

The report quoted the official as saying that there weren't any plans by the Trump administration to penalize Netanyahu.

Netanyahu and Trump spoke twice after Israel struck Doha, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

The official claimed that "the conversations were good."

Despite this, Trump stated that the decision to strike in Qatar was Netanyahu's decision alone, adding that the decision "does not advance Israel or America's goals."

Politico also reported that Qatar's prime minister will visit New York and Washington on Friday and will meet US officials to discuss the strike on Doha and ceasefire talks in Gaza.

The report added that he will meet Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
