A violent riot broke out against IDF soldiers in the West Bank on Wednesday, the IDF spokesperson announced.
During the riot terrorists threw cinder block and stones at IDF forces. The forces responded by firing at the terrorists, in an attempt to remove the threat.
The IDF soldiers were operating in Al-Mughayyir village in the Ramallah area, working to retrieve livestock belonging to Israeli citizens that had been located in the village, the statement explained.
Two 19-year-old Palestinian citizens of the West Bank were killed, and one was seriously injured by IDF fire during the disturbance, Ynet reported. The IDF spokesperson noted that "hits were identified" from the fire, but didn't specify further.
The events leading up to the incident and the management of the riot are under review.
Police official blasts IDF over lack of action in West Bank clashes
The IDF and Israel Police traded accusations on Sunday morning, criticizing each other’s handling of extremist settler violence in the West Bank after at least eight Palestinians were injured in clashes on Saturday.
Settlers arrived at Kusra and Jalud, villages in the West Bank, on Saturday afternoon. They barricaded themselves inside a Palestinian home and threw stones at locals.
The settlers left once IDF soldiers arrived, but none were arrested.
Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District commander, Asst.-Ch. Moshe Pinchi, argued in a 103FM radio interview with Eli Ohana and Barak Seri that the military should have detained the settler extremists instead of dispersing them.
"The IDF should have detained the rioters instead of dispersing them," Pinchi said. "The incident occurred in Area B [of the West Bank]; responsibility for the area lies with the military... Border Police forces operating under the army were there; they should have carried out the arrests."
