The Global Sumud Flotilla is actively preparing for Israeli interference, the organization's Instagram page posted Sunday night.

The flotilla's boats are approximately 120 nautical miles from Gaza. At around 5:30 a.m. Jerusalem time, the flotilla's Instagram page posted that unidentified boats had approached some of the flotilla boats with their lights off, then promptly left.

Earlier that evening, the flotilla said that drone activity increased over the flotilla as it entered the "high-risk zone," meaning the zone of Israeli interference.

"We have now entered the high-risk zone, the area where previous flotillas have been attacked and/or intercepted," the flotilla said in a post on Telegram.

The Sumud flotilla later reposted a tweet stating that it was anticipating an interception from the Israeli Navy, and that it had started emergency interception preparations.

DropSite News reported that several of the boat's CCTV feeds had been interrupted.

This comes after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday called on the international aid flotilla trying to deliver aid to Gaza to immediately stop their mission.

Insisting on a confrontation with Israel could upset the current "fragile balance" that could lead to peace based on the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, Meloni said.

"Many would be happy to disrupt" that plan, Meloni said in a statement.

Italian PM calls for flotilla to stop

"I fear that the flotilla's attempt to breach the Israeli naval blockade could provide a pretext for this. Also for this reason, I believe the flotilla should stop now," she added.

Shortly after, the flotilla said that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs would issue a radio call offering participants the "opportunity" to abandon the vessel.

"Italy calls it protection. We call it sabotage," the flotilla posted in response.
