Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday that they were "cautiously optimistic" at the end of Monday's talks. 

According to the sources, current discussions are focused on the less contentious issues, where there is broad agreement. The more complex matters are expected to be addressed next.

Director of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) İbrahim Kalın will attend the ceasefire negotiations on Gaza on Wednesday in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, a senior Turkish official told the Post.

Prior to joining the negotiations, Kalın held bilateral meetings with officials from the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Hamas.

Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will also join the talks on Wednesday.

The Israeli delegation in Cairo comprises senior professional-level officials. National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, US envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner are expected to arrive to enter the talks on Wednesday.

Discussions are reportedly still ongoing at this hour.

US President Donald Trump said that another team left for talks in Egypt on Tuesday. 

Talking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, "I think there's a possibility that we could have peace in the Middle East" beyond just Gaza.

Hamas says that it seeks full IDF withdrawl as hostages handed over 

A senior Hamas official told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that the terror org's negotiating team demanded that the IDF withdraw fully from Gaza as the last hostage is released.

The second day of negotiations in Egypt will focus on IDF withdrawal maps and scheduling the release of Palestinian prisoners, the official added.

Trump's proposed Gaza peace plan includes a multi-stage withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza.

The Qatari news outlet reported that the first round of negotiations was “characterized by positivity” earlier on Tuesday.
