A Palestinian child was killed, and two were injured by an explosive device after playing in an IDF live-fire range on Tuesday, according to Israeli media. 

The IDF dispatched troops to the scene and provided medical treatment to the injured, the military said in a statement, which confirmed the injuries but did not mention the death.

Children flown to hospital for surgery

The two injured children, aged 12 and 14, were transported to Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem, according to the hospital spokesperson. They were both taken in for surgery. 

The event occured in the Tirza area of the Jordan Valley, which is in the northern West Bank.

According to the IDF, the area is a live-fire zone, and entry is prohibited.

The military added that it is planning to investigate the incident.
