Former IDF chief of staff and Yashar party head Gadi Eisenkot marked 1,000 days since the October 7 massacre in an X/Twitter post at 6:29 a.m. on Thursday, the same time of day as the start of the attacks themselves in 2023.
"1,000 days. We will still be worthy. I promise," wrote the former IDF chief.
Also at 6:29 a.m. on Thursday, Yisrael Beytenu Leader MK Avigdor Liberman wrote an X post marking the 1,000-day milestone, describing the 2023 attack as "the worst disaster in the history of the Jewish people since the Holocaust."
"It shouldn't have happened," wrote Liberman. "The writing was on the wall."
Liberman noted his efforts to alert those in power to the threat prior to the attacks, accusing them of attempting to "evade responsibility" for their failure in preventing them.
"I personally placed all the alerts and all the warnings on the decision-makers' desks," he said. "Since then, they've been trying to do everything they can to make us forget about it."
1,000 days, and all fronts are still open," Liberman added.
Danny Danon addresses UN
On Wednesday, Israel's United Nations representative Danny Danon marked the milestone in an address to the UN General Assembly, emphasizing the issue of Gaza UNRWA members participating in terrorist activities.
"A thousand days after the October 7 massacre, the world must listen to the victims of terror and to the country fighting terrorism day and night," said Danon. "No terrorist deserves a UN badge, a UN salary or a UN cover story."
"If we want to defeat terrorism, we must stand together against it and not grant it immunity," he added.
Yesh Atid MKs Merav Ben Ari, Vladimir Beliak, and Karine Elharrar also reacted to the 1,000-day milestone on X, noting the government's responsibility for the attacks.
"We deserve different leadership," wrote Ben Ari. "We will replace them and fix them."
Beliak called attention to regional developments, describing Israel as "isolated in the world" as the US "is on its way to lifting sanctions on Iran."
"Hamas was not eliminated and controls Gaza under the auspices of Turkey and Qatar," he said. "Hezbollah is not disarmed and is standing on its feet."
Elharrar emphasized the importance of establishing a national commission of inquiry, noting the fact that such a commission has yet to be established 1,000 days since the attacks
Israelis protest across country
Also on Thursday, Israel Police clashed with protesters outside the Knesset in Jerusalem who were marking 1,000 days since October 7.
An additional protest occured near Haifa, with demonstrators blocking traffic at the Karkur Junction.
"1,000 days," one sign said. "We won't forget, and we won't forgive."
Other protests were held outside the homes of several israeli politicians, including Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and Education Minister Yoav Kish.
Earlier on Thursday, citizens across Israel observed a moment of silence at 6:29 a.m. to mark the milestone.
