Several theft attempts occurred during or immediately after sirens sounded over the past few days, when citizens and authorities were in shelters, Israel Police noted.

Every Israeli is panicked when a siren goes off, but most don't think they need to worry about safeguarding their belongings while they take care of their safety.

Targeting empty homes

On Wednesday, the police announced that a woman returned to her home in the North after a siren, only to notice a thief mid-escape. He had stolen bags with cash, credit cards, jewelry, and personal items. Police officers eventually apprehended the 16-year-old suspect from Jerusalem.

In a different northern town, two suspects entered a public shelter where a different woman was taking cover and stole money from her. The pair, a 16-year-old from the West Bank and a 19-year-old from Ashkelon, were caught by police.

On Tuesday night, two minors broke into the area where a missile had fallen earlier in Herzliya. A bus depot is located nearby, and the two were spotted holding large cans of gas and a pipe that was connected to the gas tank of one of the buses and were arrested by the authorities.
