An indictment has been filed against a 14-year-old Tel Aviv resident for affiliation with al-Qaeda and Hamas, Israel Police announced on Sunday.
The minor was accused of contacting a foreign agent and passing on information to the enemy.
The suspect presented himself as a Muslim spy living in Tel Aviv and was an active member of the “Cyber and Armed Jihad Movement” group chat on the Signal messaging app.
He connected with members of al-Qaeda and made plans to film strategic locations within Tel Aviv and carry out terror attacks such as “assassinating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a suicide attack against Israelis, and harming Israeli civilians with a knife or Molotov cocktail,” according to the indictment.
In addition to his communications with al-Qaeda, the suspect also attempted to join Hamas, emphasizing his interest in producing explosives and carrying out attacks against Israelis.
“His dangerousness is heightened by the fact that he crossed the boundaries of cyberspace and began to take active actions towards the execution of intelligence gathering and by expressing a desire to carry out attacks and murder Israelis, while beginning to experiment with the production of improvised explosive devices,” police wrote.
Tiberias resident indicted in Iranian spy plot
Additionally, an indictment has been filed against Yosef Ein Eli, a 23-year-old resident of Tiberias, who was arrested in September on suspicion of committing security offenses involving contact with Iranian intelligence elements and carrying out security missions under their direction, according to a report released on Sunday by Israel Police.
An interrogation revealed that Ein Eli had been in contact with Iranian intelligence elements since the end of 2024 and had carried out a variety of security missions under their direction for money.
The Tiberias resident provided his Iranian handlers with information and photos of hotels in the Dead Sea region, taking advantage of the fact that he worked in one of the hotels in the area. He also provided information about tourist areas in southern Israel.
