The Lufthansa Group has canceled all overnight flights into or out of Tel Aviv, while continuing to run daytime flights, a Lufthansa Group spokesperson announced on Wednesday.

The decision will last from January 15-19, though this period is subject to change as the Lufthansa Group continues to monitor the security situation.

This alteration in scheduling is designed to ensure flight crews will not have to sleep in Israel, the Lufthansa Group said.

Affected passengers will be automatically rebooked onto alternate flights, or may choose to reschedule their departure for a later date.

The airlines affected by this are Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.

US, UK issue warnings for citizens visiting Israel

Increased tensions between the US and Iran have led many to view Israel as a site of potential future attacks.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a warning on Thursday morning aimed at US citizens planning on traveling to Israel, cautioning them to raise their level of awareness and preparedness.

The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office also issued a warning to its citizens due to the regional tensions. Unlike the US embassy's more lax recommendations, the FCDO advised against "all but essential travel to Israel."
