The US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a warning on Thursday morning aimed at US citizens planning on traveling to Israel.

The warning comes due to "ongoing regional tensions," the embassy stated, referring to threats from the Iranian regime as it endures weeks of protests.

The warning does not carry any specific instructions beyond a general raised level of awareness and preparedness for US citizens in Israel.

The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office also issued a warning to its citizens due to the regional tensions. Unlike the US embassy's more lax recommendations, the FCDO advised against "all but essential travel to Israel."

US attack on Iran suspected to be imminent

There have been indications that a US attack on Iran is imminent, an action which may result in an Iranian attack against Israel.

Iran issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) late on Wednesday night, closing its airspace to all flights, and flight tracker websites showed the airspace over Iran and Iraq emptying rapidly prior to the NOTAM's issuing.

Both Poland and Italy urged their citizens to leave Iran immediately. The British embassy in Tehran has been temporarily closed. Less than 24 hours before, the US had urged its own citizens to leave.

This is a developing story.
