Nine Palestinians who have been suspected of involvement in stone-throwing incidents over the past month were arrested in the West Bank by Israeli security forces, the Israel Police stated on Thursday.
The stone-throwing incidents targeted both civilians and security forces, and in one event, an IDF soldier was wounded, police said.
Working alongside officers from Ariel police station, Border Police officers investigated activity in various friction hotspots for several weeks, with district intelligence and investigative units identifying suspects and building an evidentiary basis for their detention.
In one of the incidents cited by police, a soldier was struck in the head by a stone and was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.
Police also reported multiple cases of vehicle damage on major roads throughout the West Bank.
Separate claim of fatal shooting near Ramallah
In a separate incident, the Palestinian Health Ministry claimed that a Palestinian was killed by settler gunfire in the village of al-Mikhmas area near Ramallah. Israeli authorities did not immediately respond to the claim.
Police stated they would continue pursuing suspects involved in attacks across the area, adding that “anyone who attempts to harm civilians or security forces will be dealt with firmly and with zero tolerance,” and that authorities would use all available tools to bring perpetrators to justice.
