Five Israeli soldiers from the Givati ​​Brigade were badly wounded by anti-tank missile fire on Friday as they were deployed near the border with Lebanon in northern Israel, the IDF confirmed.

The military added that, in the same incident, three other Givati soldiers were lightly wounded.

The IDF's confirmation that its soldiers had been wounded comes after Hezbollah, earlier that morning, issued a statement saying that it had initiated a "series of operations" targeting "Israeli sites and bases."

The incident is the third of its kind in recent days, raising the total of IDF soldiers wounded in southern Lebanon to 12.

On Thursday, an officer and soldier from the IDF's Givati Brigade were wounded by Hezbollah anti-tank fire in southern Lebanon. The officer was severely wounded, and the soldier was moderately injured, according to the IDF.

On Wednesday, Two IDF tank soldiers were moderately wounded during operations in southern Lebanon. The soldiers were wounded as a result of an anti-tank missile fired against them, the military said.

The renewed Israel-Hezbollah conflict has caused 83,847 people to flee southern Lebanon and other areas of Lebanon, Lebanese Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayed said Thursday.

The conflict began to escalate when Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel on Monday. Since then, the terrorist group has also launched numerous drone attacks, targeting both bmilitary and civilian installations.
