Nearly 30,000 property-damage claims have been filed by Israelis since the beginning of Operation Roaring Lion, the Israel Tax Authority reported Thursday.

Sixty-five compensation-fund teams are currently operating across the country to assist civilians whose homes and property have been damaged in the war, the ITA said. A property-tax team is also active in hotels throughout Israel, assisting evacuees, it said.

A total of 28,237 property-damage claims have been filed since the start of the war: 18,408 for damage to a structure, 6,617 for damage to a vehicle, 2,594 for damage to a structure’s content and equipment, and 618 for other damages, the ITA reported.

About 80% (22,871) of these cases have either already had an appraiser visit the site and estimate the claim, or were made under a fast-track program for which an appraiser is not required.

Tax Authority recommends fast-track program for property damage claims

The fast-track program is recommended for property-damage claims, the ITA said.

The fast-track program for damage claims can be used only for damages of less than NIS 30,000, it said, adding that 4,164 claims have been made under this program.

Due to high demand, appraisers might be delayed in reaching the sites of property-damage claims, and citizens should use the fast-track program if possible, the ITA said.

The largest number of claims was made in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa area (5,124), followed by Beersheba (3,573), Arad (2,361), and Petah Tikva (1,991).
