An Iranian attack on Israel would release the IDF “from any restrictions,” Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday during a speech to Defense Ministry employees ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday, Walla reported.
“We will destroy all national, military, and civilian infrastructure in Iran, including energy infrastructure,” Katz threatened. “We will return Iran to the Stone Age.”
Katz emphasized that the Iranian regime “knows very well” why it has recently avoided attacking Israel.
“We attacked them with force,” Katz said. “We destroyed their nuclear program, we assassinated [former supreme leader] Khamenei, and we severely damaged their strategic capabilities.”
He added that the heavy economic pressure being applied by US sanctions against the Islamic Republic is “likely” to push the regime “to the brink of destruction.”
“Israel is prepared for defense and attack,” Katz added. “The IDF is ready to carry out the mission.”
Netanyahu: Attack from Iran would be 'one of their last decisions'
His comments came following a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday that an attack by the Iranian regime would be “one of their last decisions.”
“Pay attention also to what is happening with Iran,” Netanyahu said as he addressed the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip and the threats from Iran during a visit to the Afiki Daat Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot. “They are attacking and threatening everyone, but not here because they already know what the significance of an attack against Israel would be.”
