Clalit Health Services removed a suggestion from its newsletter that suggested that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued political success was one of the reasons for going bald, the pro-Netanyahu newspaper Israel Hayom reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the newsletter included an article on myths and facts about baldness. The article said mental stress could lead to baldness and that stress could be caused by a number of factors, including Netanyahu remaining in power.
“Stress can cause a rare form of hair loss,” the article in the newsletter said. “There could be massive hair-loss that starts at a specific time that the sufferer can point out. The incident causing the hair loss must be very significant, such as being hospitalized in an emergency room, the death of a relative, or receiving a message that Netanyahu was elected yet again.”
A screenshot of the newsletter was posted on social media, leading to many complaints to Clalit.
“Clalit is sorry for the tasteless text,” a spokesman for the health fund said. “The text, which was inside an article dealing with practical medical issues, was immediately removed, and the necessary lessons have been learned.”
