Rimona Golan, mother of Women’s Advancement Minister May Golan (Likud), completed her interrogation after she returned to Lahav 433, after she was smuggled out by her daughter on Thursday, Maariv reported on Friday.
Golan’s mother, who is 80 years old, went to the bathroom during Thursday's interrogation and was later “taken” by Golan, who herself entered the station shouting at the agents, according to Ynet.
Golan’s mother is allegedly connected to the current investigation into fund deviations towards the Haeer Haivrit (The Hebrew City) NGO and was summoned due to a series of documents and assets registered in her name.
What is May Golan being investigated for?
Golan allegedly used office funds and resources for activities that did not fall under her responsibilities, such as having staff members drive her mother around, buying her a shwarma sandwich, and running errands for the minister, as well as delivering personal gifts to her friends.
The Israel Police raided the Jerusalem offices of Golan on Monday morning as part of an investigation into fraud, misuse of public funds, and fictitious employment.
The National Crime Unit also raided the offices of one of Golan’s advisers in Yavne, where they found a drug lab. A lawyer who once advised Golan was detained for questioning and later released to house arrest.
This is a developing story.
