Minister of Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz welcomed US Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette to Jerusalem on Wednesday. The two discussed the growing energy cooperation between Israel and Egypt.On Monday Steinitz visited Egypt to discuss the upcoming Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum in Cairo. It was the first formal visit by any Israeli minister to Egypt since the 2011 Arab Spring. Steinitz invited Department of Energy officials to attend the conference. He also thanked the Department of Energy for tightening sanctions on the Iranian government. Other issues on the agenda included Israel's natural gas reserves off the coast of Haifa.Brouillette's visit to the Middle East also included the attending the second Qatar-U.S. Strategic Dialogue in Doha.
