Victims in Ramle double murder named by police, who secure gag order on case

The investigation has been handed over to the special investigations branch of the Central District police, which handles serious crimes.

A gag order was secured by police on Sunday on the investigation into the double murder of two Lod residents found shot to death Saturday night in a car outside a Ramle cemetery.
The two victims, named as Samir Abu Hajaj, 46, an Abed Alkarim Alamouri, 30, were found by paramedics outside the Muslim cemetery on Shimon HaGibor Street with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were shot at point blank range in the upper body, and were ruled dead at the scene by paramedics.
The investigation has been handed over to the special investigations branch of the Central District police, which handles serious crimes.
Magen David Adom paramedic Youssef Ismail said that when they arrived at the scene, his team found the two men showing no signs of life, and after an attempt to revive them, they had no choice but to rule them dead.
The gag order does not allow publication of any details of the investigation or the suspects, but police are investigating a number of possibilities, including that the two men were ambushed by the gunman after leaving a meeting near the site of the crime. Another possibility is that they were lured to the scene by their killers, what is referred to as a “red riding hood murder” in the Israeli underworld.
The murder happened a few hours after Boris Putpov, 59, was found killed in south Tel Aviv by a municipal street cleaner, in an unrelated crime. On Sunday, Tel Aviv police said they had managed to find the suspected killer. No motive for the murder was provided by police, who said the issue is still under investigation.
