22-year-old man shot and killed in Kiryat Yam

Alon Yosefiov, a 22 year-old resident of Kiryat Yam was shot and killed Saturday morning in attack which police believe to be part of a fight among criminal elements in the Haifa area. Yosefiov, who was already known to the police, was shot a number of times early Saturday on Sderot Yerushalayim in Kiryat Yam. A companion of Yosefiov was also lightly wounded during the incident, and transported Yosefiov to Haifa's Rambam Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Yosefiov's friend, who was listed in good condition, was questioned by police in connection with the shooting and then released. Police investigators trying to pinpoint the exact location of the attack recovered shell casings on Sderot Yerushalayim, leading them to believe that it was the scene of the shooting.
