An Afula resident, 50, was brought to Emek Hospital in the city in serious condition on Monday evening after he cut his throat with a knife.
Before he injured himself, the man attempted to stab his wife in their front yard.
A neighbor who saw the incident saved his wife, after which the resident went up the stairs into their apartment and slit his throat in front of their 10-year-old daughter.
A MDA ambulance rushed the resident to the hospital. Chief of the Afula police department, Yaakov Biton, said that the police were already familiar with the couple due to a previous incident of family violence, Army Radio reported.
