Anti-Left graffiti painted in J'lem

Messages blast advocates of Israel's 2000 pullout from south Lebanon.

Graffiti blasting a group of Israeli liberals who were longtime advocates of Israel's pullout from Lebanon in 2000 was spray-painted at several Jerusalem sites Monday, police said. The slogans "Shelly Yacimovich is a murderer," and "Carmella Menashe is a murderer" were scrawled on the walls of several Jerusalem buildings. Yacimovich, who is now a Labor MK, previously served as a popular Israel Radio talk show host, while Menashe is the station's veteran military affairs reporter. During the 1990's, both women strongly advocated ending Israel's 18-year occupation in south Lebanon. The graffiti also blasted an organization of Israeli women known as 'The Four Mothers,' who campaigned to end Israel's presence in south Lebanon, but who currently support Israel's war against Hizbullah. "The Four Mothers, you have destroyed us," the Hebrew-language graffiti read. Police suspect that far-right Jewish activists were behind the act. In response to the graffiti, far-right activist Itamar Ben-Gvir said, "These are the people that got us of Lebanon, got us out of Gaza and now we are seeing the results of their actions."
