A's mother: Katsav would call us in the night

"One morning, when the affair just broke out, a man in Haredi garb knocked on my door and told me 'if your daughter keeps quiet the president will keep quiet'," the mother of A', one of the complainants in the sexual crimes case against former president Moshe Katsav, told Channel 10 Tuesday. Her reply to the man was: "My daughter will not keep quiet over what was done to her." A's mother also claimed that Katsav would call up in the middle of the night, asking to speak to her daughter. "I'd hear her yelling at him on the phone: 'Leave me alone, you're married, you're married'". A's mother described the personal ordeal that she herself underwent. "We are ruined. As a mother, I suffer pain when I discuss what he (Katsav) did to my daughter and ten more girls like her," She said. She also responded to the plea bargain reached between the attorney general and Katsav. "Every mother whose daughter was raped can identify with me. After a year of weeping, sorrow and pain over what he did to my daughter, I did not anticipate that was what he would get." A's mother added that, when it came to her daughter's decision to reveal the affair, she had no regrets. "I am proud of my daughter for causing the affair to explode. God told her 'talk, so that [people] will know who the eighth president of Israel is.'" "The Torah says 'Thou shall not commit adultery," she fumed. "How dare he put a kippah on his head?"
