Barak cancels Peretz mtng., says it's 'pointless'

Chances are increasing that former prime minister Ehud Barak will choose not to run for a place in parliament on the Labor party list, according to assessments. On Saturday Barak cancelled a meeting with Labor leader Amir Peretz scheduled for Sunday, stating that, "There is no point to such a meeting until Peretz establishes his stance regarding cooperation between the party's leaders," Barak was quoted on Army Radio. "Meetings are not held for the pure sake of meeting," Barak sniped Saturday afternoon.
