US President George W. Bush pledged Thursday to work with Israel, criticizing Hizbullah for thwarting efforts for peace in the Middle East.
Bush's comments, during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, came as Israel intensified attacks in Lebanon in response to a cross-border raid by Hizbullah operatives Wednesday during which two Israeli soldiers were captured.
"My attitude is this: there are a group of terrorists who want to stop the advance of peace," he said. "Those of us who are peace-loving must work together to help the agents of peace."
