Dozens of US citizens were leaving violence-torn Gaza in a bus convoy on Saturday.
Many of those getting out of the coastal strip were Palestinian Americans who had visited relatives in Gaza. Early Saturday, they were driven in three white UN buses to the Erez crossing between Gaza and Israel.
The visitors' passports were checked at the border in the presence of US consular officials.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles on Friday, hundreds of Israeli and Palestinian supporters exchanged shouts across a busy street during demonstrations in response to recent the recent Gaza violence.
Palestinian supporters holding graphic signs showing Israeli soldiers involved in the conflict prayed outside a federal building in West Los Angeles.
Across the street, pro-Israel activists staged a counter-protest, waving American, English and Israeli flags and displaying al Qaida signs and fake rockets. The supporters of Israel also held up signs calling for the release of kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit.
