Ethiopian defectors flown from Israel to Eritrea

Seven Ethiopian officers who defected to Eritrea while in Israel were flown to Eritrea Wednesday night. The officers, who came to Israel for a private military course, reportedly took refuge at the Eritrean ambassador's home. The ambassador funded the Ethiopians' flight back to Eritrea. The two neighboring African countries have been at war in the past over border disputes. The Israeli Foreign Ministry emphasized they had nothing to do with the officers' defection.
