Former Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Moshe Levy is unconscious and in serious condition at Emek Medical Center in Afula after suffering a severe stroke on Sunday. The 72-year-old Levy, whose nickname was "Moshe and A Half" because of his height, lives in Kibbutz Beit Alfa not far from the hospital.
He is being treated in an internal medicine department, and his wife and children are with him all the time. It was his second stroke; he suffered a first one a few years ago.
Levy was appointed IDF chief of staff in 1983 and served until 1987.
