Upcoming meeting on Tuesday between Halutz and former generals expected to be very tense.

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz met for several hours on Monday with battalion and brigade commanders who fought during Israel's second Lebanon war.
According to participants at the meeting, Halutz briefed the officers on the reasons behind decisions made regarding the IDF's strategy during the war and heard their remarks, complaints and overall feelings. In contrast to previous such meetings, the tone throughout the meeting was mostly calm and the officers' main complaint was with regard to the confusion created by last-minute changes to operational orders even at times when units were already in Lebanon on their way to enemy targets.
But while Monday's meeting might have been calm, Halutz is scheduled to hold another meeting on Tuesday and expected to be far tenser, with some 100 former IDF generals. Several of the generals, including Maj.-Gen. (res.) Doron Almog and Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yoram Yair have been working on formulating a letter in which they call on Halutz to take responsibility for the war's failures and resign from his position.
"Someone needs to take responsibility for what happened in Lebanon," one of the former generals said last week.
