Haredim riot over alleged baby killer's arrest

Several dozen haredi men assaulted a city bus driver in Jerusalem's Mea She'arim neighborhood late Thursday night, in renewed rioting over the arrest of a 19-year old haredi man suspected of beating his three-month old infant to death, police said. The driver of the Egged bus, who was rescued by police, was lightly injured in the late-night attack, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The rioters, who had blocked traffic at the neighborhood's main intersection with garbage bins, were forcibly dispersed by police. No arrests were immediately made on the scene. The haredi neighborhood had been unusually quiet this week, after three nights of rioting over the arrest of the alleged baby killer last week.
